Why don’t you try some of these educational games at gamesgames.com. I have been practicing Trivial Pursuit for Christmas Day. There are plenty of other games though to help you with Maths and English.

Practice any times table using the Multiflyer game. Don’t just memorise your tables, learn tricks to make multiplication easier: Learn your x-tables in 21 days!

Try Division Asteroids for quickfire division practice.

You’ll get spellings homework every week, but to practice your own personal spellings, try these sites: LCWC, Look cover, Crickweb LSCTC (the best one).

For History, look at the work children have done at another school or try Guardian Century for news reports.

There’s some great maths games from Coventry LEA. Mr B’s group used this game in class & for homework: Function wheel

Birmingham Grid for Learning has some of the best interactive maths sites we’ve found. Mr G’s maths group in particular should have a look at the Booster Maths sites they’ve run for the past four years (click ‘start the activity‘ on the site description pages). They reckon that target children have done 20% better by using their sites - it’s worth a go!!

We’ve just found an award-winning blog. We wish ours was as good as this. It’s Portuguese, like Mrs W & called Have Fun with English. Follow the links on the left-hand side for some good educational sites.

Another good website we’ve just found is the NZ maths site. Most of the work Mr B’s group have been doing this week (4th November 2007) is from the problem-solving section of this site. Mr B’s group is working at about Level 3 (that’d be about level 4 or 5 in UK levels). Each page gives the problem, hints & answers at the bottom. If you like maths problems, this is the best site we’ve found on the net.

Not had enough of making movies? You will LOVE Zimmertwins. It’ll also help you with sequencing stories.

Word Central has a couple of good word games. Quite hard, but worth trying with parents or carers.

Remember, when you find a good website it often leads you via the links page to other good websites. This is called surfing & it’s how we find the best websites. Good websites often link up to other good websites. So use the links pages to find new sites yourself.

Try the links page on the main Marlcliffe blog for other good sites.

And i want to thank miss laird and miss mintuer for doing our breackfast at school. The only reson we did well was because we had that marvalsh breakfast. You forgot to say how well all the children did in your work leading up to SATS.
Yes, we’d love to hear from you at secondary school. It may not be on this blog as we’re reviewing the school’s web presence, but we’ll definitely have a posts section of whatever website/blog we have next year - and you can post to us even if you’ve left Marlcliffe.
