Homework W/E 19.10.07

22 10 2007

English:  Make your own ending for the story The Dancing Bear (see plot below).  You should make sure that you use the features of endings we learnt in class this week.

Dancing Bear plotKind orphan Roxanne in mountain village, adopts abandoned bear cub - Bruno, film crew arrive, want dancing bear for film set in village, Bruno won’t dance, Roxanne sings to him & he dances, film crew hear singing & take her off to be a star.  Task:  Start the ending one year after Roxanne has been taken off to be a singing star.  In your ending, we should find out what the rest of the village is like now, after the excitement of last year; whether Roxanne has been in contact with anyone in the village; and what has happened to Bruno the bear (remember – Roxanne and Bruno have both been abandoned before!).  The ending should be set only in the village. Features of endings:  in endings, problems are solved and any loose ends tied up; sometimes your own opinion (you are the author) is implied in the mood & language.

Maths: (Mr Brooks & Mr Shaw’s group):  Play on Coventry function wheel game on Internet: http://www.wmnet.org.uk/wmnet/custom/files_uploaded/uploaded_resources/851/Functionwheelv3.swf    Make own 2-step number sequences, with rule & first 10 terms.  Predict 125th term for each.

Maths: (Mr Gelsthorpe’s group) Solve the percentage problems. You should use a calculator to solve these!
